AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PARIS BE AMENDED BY REVISING THE TRAFFIC CONTROL MAP ADOPTED IN PARAGRAPH (b) OF SECTION 31-65 OF SAID CODE; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED $200.00; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Paris Traffic Commission is charged with the responsibility to study and evaluate traffic control devices for use on city streets and roadways; and, WHEREAS, among those traffic control devices evaluated by the Traffic Commission is the placement of stop signs at various intersections throughout the city; and, WHEREAS, the Traffic Commission, at its regular meeting of November 5, 2002, considered and evaluated various suggestions and requests for the placement of stop signs at various locations throughout the city, and, having done so, found and determined that the placement of certain stop signs at certain locations of and intersections in the city is necessary to protect the health and safety and is in the best interests of the citizens of the city of Paris, and have so recommended such signs to the City Council of the City of Paris; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this ordinance are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That the Traffic Control Map adopted in Paragraph (b) of Section 31-65 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be, and the same is hereby, amended to include the following stop signs: "Stop - Abby Lane at Darnell Drive, stopping east- and west-bound traffic." "Stop - Darnell Drive at North Hills Drive, stopping east- and west-bound traffic." Section 3. That any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be guilty of a Misdemeanor, and, upon conviction, shall be fined in any sum not to exceed $200.00.
