Library Advisory Board <br />January 15, 2003 <br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIBRARY <br />ADVISORY BOARD <br /> January 15, 2003 <br /> <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session <br />Wednesday, January 15, 2003, at 4:00PM in the Library with Chairman <br />Nancee Salzman presiding. The following members were present: Sarah <br />Gambill, Peggy Guthrie, John Howison, Joyce Kennemer, Nancee Salzman <br />and Walter Williams. Anna Davis, Kevin Gray and Vicki Terlap were not <br />present. Also attending was Betty Landon, Library Director. Callie <br />Thompson, Friends President was not present. <br /> <br />The minutes from December's meeting were approved. <br /> <br />The budget is pretty much on track; we have paid for a March workshop <br />for the children's librarians in the training line item. <br /> <br />This month we had 23 memorials for $854 including $500 from Newcomers <br />Club. We had 23 interlibrary loan transactions. There were 3 programs at <br />nursing homes with attendance of 58. <br /> <br />Twenty-five programs were held for children with 478 children and 79 <br />adults attending. These included two Gingerbread House Programs, a visit <br />from Central Presbyterian Day School and our usual storytimes. <br />Children's librarians went to Chisum Elementary and visited 19 classes. <br />Children's Outreach held 9 programs with 217 participants. <br /> <br />Casey Mills, library employee, was introduced to the board. She described <br />her various jobs, turning on computer terminals, emptying book drops, <br />answering telephone, taking care of damaged items, cleaning videos. She <br />also works at circulation, stocks library brochures, puts up magazines and <br />reads shelves in the 700-949 area.. She helps occasionally on children's <br />programs. <br /> <br />In the Director's Report, Betty discussed attending a State Library Focus <br />Group, with Priscilla McAnally, in Mount Pleasant. Tina Williams, former <br />Paris Public Library Director was one of the consultants working with the <br /> <br /> <br />
