Library Advisory Board
March 19, 2003

MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIBRARY
ADVISORY BOARD
March 19, 2003

The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session
Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at 4:00PM in the Library with Chairman
Nancee Salzman presiding. The following Board members were present:
Anna Davis, Peggy Guthrie, Vicki Terlap, John Howison, Joyce Kennemer,
Nancee Salzman, Kevin Gray and Walter Williams. Also attending were
Betty Landon, Library Director and Callie Thompson, Friends President.
Sarah Gambill did not attend.

The minutes from February's meeting were approved.

Betty presented board members this month's budget report. Betty
reported that "things are where they should be" with the budget. She
reported that the building and grounds portion of the budget is way
behind, but she is anticipating a bill soon which will bring things back to
normal. Items designated with "03" in the budget are the state money
items and show a negative, but everything is okay with those accounts. The
money arrived after our budget was approved.

The Children's Department report included several successful programs in
February. They presented 14 preschool programs to 221 children and 43
adults. In addition, there were 11 programs in the library for 91 children
and 90 adults. Three young volunteers spent 8 hours and 13 minutes in the
children's department. Billy Book will appear at Kids Safe Saturday on
the 22nd. The Children's Department is also featuring a reading reward
program where they are giving away circus tickets to readers. There will
be a Victorian Tea Party at the Wise House on April l0th for 8-13 year old
girls.

In adult outreach, there were 3 programs in which 55 attended. There
were 40 interlibrary loans and 30 volunteer hours logged.
