DRAFT <br /> <br />F:kAttorney\LisakResolutions\CURRENTkAuto Theft Grant 2003.wpd <br /> May 9, 2003 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS, RATIFYING AN APPLICATION FOR AN AUTOMOBILE <br />THEFT PREVENTION GRANT; AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF <br />ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY FOR ACCEPTANCE AND <br />IMPLEMENTATION OF SAID GRANT UPON NOTICE THEREOF; <br />MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE <br />SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Texas Automobile Theft Prevention Authority provides funding for <br />automobile theft prevention grants; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is desirous of processing a grant <br />application for the Automobile Theft Prevention Grant entitled "Northeast Texas Automobile <br />Theft Task Force" project beginning September 1, 2003, and ending August 31, 2004, in the <br />amount of $155,689.00, with $46,016.00 to be provided by the City of Paris in the form of cash <br />and $19,700.00 in the form of in-kind services; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the deadline for actual filing of the grant application occurred prior to the <br />date of the next regular City Council meeting, and a timely application has been filed, subject <br />to City Council ratification; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council desires to authorize the Mayor, City Manager, Police <br />Chief, and other appropriate City staff to accept and implement said grant (if same is received) <br />without further action of City Council; NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all <br />things approved. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the filing of an application to the Texas Automobile Theft Prevention <br />Authority for an Automobile Theft Prevention Grant entitled "Northeast Texas Automobile <br />Theft Task Force" project beginning September 1, 2003, and ending August 31, 2004, in the <br />amount of $89,973.00, being approximately 58% of the estimated cost of the Automobile Theft <br />Prevention Program, with $46,016.00 to be provided by the City of Paris in the form of cash and <br />$19,700.00 in the form of in-kind services, is hereby in all things ratified. <br /> <br /> <br />
