The public meeting was well attended with approximately 50 attendees and the focus
groups were informative tools to get specific information regarding different organizations, clubs,
groups and sports organizations around town. The following list is representative of the most
common comments and concerns heard throughout the meetings.
• The Master Plan needs to address developing new parks on existing city owned properties
and upgrading existing parks rather than acquiring new land - focus must remain on what the
city already owns.
• The City of Paris needs top notch facilities with a high level of maintenance..
• The City of Paris has numerous sidewalks, trails and the Trail De Paris but needs to connect
the different trail segments in order to create a trail network. Connectivity and linkages are
important for easy access and healthier life styles.
• The City needs an indoor recreation facility and natatorium.
• A sprayground/splashpad is needed for aquatic play.
• Additional signage is needed within parks and along trails - both informative and interpretive
signs.
• Public /private partnerships should be sought out.
• The City of Paris needs to focus on lighting parks, trails and facilities for safety.
r*

Pl
TEXASJ
City of Paris Parks, Recreation & Open Space Master Plan 2013 -2023
Page 21
