The Owner is not responsible in any manner to a claiman~ <br /> for collection of un~aid bills, and accepts no such responsibility <br /> because of any representation by any agent or employee. <br /> <br /> ~TICLE VIII. CONTRACT COMPLETION TIME <br /> <br /> 8.1 WORK ORDER: The Contract Time will begin on the date designated in the Work <br /> Order issued by the Owner. <br /> <br /> 8.2 WORK PROGRESS SCHEDULE: Within three (3) days after receipt of a Work <br /> Order, if requested by the (~ner, the Contractor shall submit in duplicate <br /> to the Engineer/Project Manager for approval an estimated progress schedule <br /> for the Work in relation to the entire Project. This schedule shall <br /> indicate the dates for the starting and completion of the various <br /> classifications of construction. <br /> <br /> 8.3 COMPL_____~ETION OF WORK: The Contractor will be held to account for the Work <br /> being completed in the time that is stated in the Contract. <br /> <br /> 8.4 DELAYS AND EXTENSION TIME: <br /> <br /> 8.4.1 The Contractor m~ay be granted an extension of time because of <br /> changes ordered in the Contract or because of strikes, lockouts, <br /> fire, or unusual delays in transportation, which constitute a <br /> justifiable delay. The Owner will extend the time subject to the <br /> following provisions. <br /> <br /> 8.4.2 Claims for extensions of time must be made in writing within five <br /> (5) calendar days after the occurrence of the delay. Ail time <br /> extension claims shall be supported by sufficient written evidence <br /> to justify the claim. In the case of a continuing cause of delay, <br /> only one claim is necessary. Claims for extensions of time shall <br /> be stated in numbers of whole or half calendar days. <br /> <br /> 8.5 FAILURE TO COMPLETE WORK ON TIME: The time set forth in the Contract for <br /> the completion of Work is an essential element of the Contract. <br /> Contractor's failure to complete the Work within such time will cause damage <br /> to the Owner.
