ERI Consulting, Inc. <br /> <br /> testing of compressed air shall insure that systems provide <br /> air of sufficient quality (Grade D breathing air as described <br /> in Compressed Gas Association Commodity Specifications (G-7.1) <br /> The use of an air purifying system is encouraged. In the <br /> event of compressor failure, a bottled gas system may be <br /> utilized or respirators with an escape air purifying cartridge <br /> may be used. <br /> <br /> 2.2.1.4 Full body disposable protective clothing, including head, body <br /> and foot coverings (unless using footwear as described in <br /> 2.2.1.6) consisting of material limiting penetration by <br /> asbestos fibers (T!rvek or equivalent) shall be provided to all <br /> workers and authorized visitors in sizes adequate to <br /> accommodate movement without tearing. <br /> <br /> 2.2.1.5 Additional safety equipment (e.g. hard hats meeting the <br /> requirements of ANSI Standard Z89.1-1981, eye protection <br /> meeting the requirements of ANSI Standard Z87.1-1979, safety <br /> shoes meeting the requirements of ANSI Standard Z41.1-1967, <br /> disposable PVC gloves), as necessary shall be provided to all <br /> workers and authorized visitors. <br /> <br /> 2.2.1.6 Non-skid footwear shall be provided to all abatement workers. <br /> Disposable clothing shall be adequately sealed to the footwear <br /> to prevent body contamination. <br /> <br /> 2.2.1.7 If launderable clothing is to be worn %underneath disposable <br /> protective clothing, it shall be provided by the Contractor to <br /> all abatement workers. (It is recommended that launderable <br /> clothing be a unique, specific color to enable it to be <br /> distinguished from general purpose blue, gray or black <br /> coveralls which are commonly worn). Laundering must be in <br /> accordance the following procedures: <br /> <br /> 2.2.1.7.1 Launderers must be trained in proper techniques for <br /> handling asbestos contaminated clothing and provided with <br /> personal protective equipment consisting of appropriate <br /> respirators and disposable clothing for use when needed. <br /> <br /> 2.2.1.7.2 Machines used for laundering asbestos contaminated <br /> clothing shall be isolated and restricted to such use. <br /> <br /> 2.2.1.7.3 Washers shall be equipped with filters to remove asbestos <br /> fibers from discharged water (See Section 3.1.2.7) <br /> <br /> 2.2.1.7.4 Dryers shall be isolated and restricted for use with <br /> asbestos contaminated fabrics and have HEPA filtered <br /> exhaust. <br /> <br />4/11/03 54 <br /> <br /> <br />
