After cleaning, these objects shall be removed <br /> <br />-- from the work area and carefully stored in an uncontaminated <br /> <br /> location. <br /> <br /> 3.1.1.7 Preclean all fixed objects in the work area using HEPA <br /> filtered vacuums and/or wet cleaning techniques as <br /> appropriate. Careful attention must be paid to machinery <br /> behind grills or gratings where access may be difficult but <br /> contamination may exist. Also pay particular attention to <br /> <br />-- wall, floor and ceiling penetrations behind fixed items. <br /> <br /> After precleaning, enclose fixed objects in 6 mil polyethylene <br /> sheeting and seal securely in place with tape. Control <br /> panels, gauges etc. in the work area may require Owner access <br /> <br /> during abatement. These shall be designated and enclosures <br />-- constructed with access flaps sealed with waterproof tape. <br /> <br /> 3.1.1.8 Preclean all surfaces in the work area using HEPA filtered <br /> vacuums and/or wet cleaning methods as appropriate. Do not <br /> use any methods that would raise dust such as dry sweeping or <br /> vacuuming with equipment not equipped with HEPA filters. Do <br />-- not disturb asbestos containing materials during the pre- <br /> <br /> cleaning phase. <br /> <br />-- 3.1.1.9 Seal off all windows, doorways, elevator openings, corridor <br /> entrances, drains, ducts, grills, grates, diffusers, skylights <br /> and any other openings between the work area and <br /> uncontaminated areas outside of the work area (including the <br /> outside of the building), tunnels and crawl spaces with 6 mil <br /> polyethylene sheeting and tape (See Section 3.1.4 - Isolating <br /> work area from occupied areas). <br /> <br /> 3.1.1.10 Cover floors in the work area with polyethylene sheeting. <br /> <br /> 3.1.1.10.1 Floor shall be covered with two layers of 6 mil <br /> (minimum) sheeting. Carpeting, hardwood flooring and <br /> tile floors may be damaged by leaks of water, ladder <br /> feet, scaffold wheels etc. Additional layers of <br /> protection such as plywood, canvas dropcloths or extra <br /> plastic sheeting are required. Additional layers of <br /> sheeting may be utilized as drop cloths to aid in <br /> cleanup of bulk materials.
