ERI Consulting, Inc. <br /> <br /> can be enclosed in plastic sheeting and are accessible from <br /> the work area. When this situation does not exist, enclosure <br /> systems may be constructed out of metal, woods or plastic <br /> support as appropriate. <br /> <br /> 3.1.2.2 Plans for construction, including materials and layout, shall <br /> be submitted as shop drawings and approved, in writing by the <br /> Owner's Representative prior to work initiation. Worker <br /> decontamination enclosure systems constructed at the worksite <br /> shall utilize 6 mil opaque black or white polyethylene <br /> sheeting or other acceptable materials for privacy. Detailed <br /> descriptions of portable, pre-fabricated units, if used, must <br /> be submitted for the Owner's Representative approval. Plans <br /> must include floor plan (in accordance with 3.1.2.3) with <br /> dimensions, materials, size, thickness, plumbing and <br /> electrical utilities. <br /> <br /> 3.1.2.3 The worker decontamination enclosure system shall consist of <br /> at least a clean room, a shower room, and an equipment room, <br /> each separated from each other and from the work area by <br /> polyethylene airlocks. <br /> <br /> 3.1.2.4 Entry to and exit from all airlocks and decontamination <br /> enclosure system chambers shall be through curtained doorways <br /> consisting of two sheets of overlapping polyethylene sheeting. <br /> One sheet shall be secured at the top and left side, the other <br /> sheet at the top and right side. Both sheets shall have <br /> weights attached to the bottom to insure that they hang <br /> straight and maintain a seal over the doorway when not in use. <br /> Doorway designs, providing equivalent protection and <br /> acceptable to the Owner's Representative may be utilized. <br /> <br /> 3.1.2.5 Clean room shall be sized to adequately accommodate the work <br /> crew. Benches shall be provided as well as hooks for hanging <br /> up street clothes. Lockers may be provided for valuables, <br /> however, workers may be requested to secure valuables in their <br /> cars. Shelves for storing respirators shall also be provided <br /> in this area. Clean work clothes (if required under <br /> disposables), clean disposable clothing, replacement filters <br /> for respirators, towels and other necessary items shall be <br /> provided in adequate supply at the clean room. A location for <br /> posting shall also be provided in this area. Whenever <br /> possible, a lockable door shall be used to permit access into <br /> the clean room from outside the area.
