ERI Consulting, Inc. <br /> <br />-- 3.1.3.2 This system shall consist of flapped doors, a container <br /> staging area, and a flapped door with access to the outside <br /> of the work area. <br /> <br /> 3.1.3.3 The waste container pass-out airlock shall be constructed in <br /> similar fashion to the worker decontamination enclosure system <br /> using similar materials and curtain doorway designs. <br /> <br /> 3.1.3.4 This bag out system shall not be used to enter or exit the <br /> worksite. <br /> <br /> 3.1.3.5 Emergency exits shall be established and clearly marked with <br /> duct tape arrows or other effective designations to permit <br /> <br />--- easy location from anywhere within the work area. They shall <br /> <br /> be secured to prevent access from uncontaminated areas and <br /> still permit emergency exiting. These exits shall be properly <br /> sealed with polyethylene sheeting which can be cut to permit <br /> <br /> egress if needed. These exits may be the worker <br /> decontamination enclosure, the waste pass-out airlock and/or <br /> other alternative exits satisfactory to fire officials. <br /> <br />_ 3.1.4 Area Barriers <br /> <br /> 3.1.4.1 The contaminated work area shall be separated from <br /> uncontaminated, occupied areas of the building by the <br /> construction of air tight barriers. <br /> <br /> 3.1.4.2 Walls shall be constructed of wood or metal framing to support <br /> barriers in all openings larger than 4' x 8'. <br /> <br /> 3.1.4.3 A sheathing material (plywood, drywall) of at least ~" <br /> thickness shall be applied to work side of barrier. <br /> <br /> 3.1.4.4 Cover both sides of partition with a double layer of 6 mil <br /> polyethylene sheeting with staggered joints and seal in place. <br /> Caulk edges of partition at floor, ceiling, walls and fixtures <br /> to form an air tight seal. <br /> <br /> 3.1.5 Maintenance of workplace barriers and worker decontamination <br /> enclosure systems <br /> <br /> 3.1.5.1 Following completion of the construction of all polyethylene <br /> barriers and decontamination system enclosures, allow <br /> overnight settling to insure that barriers will remain intact <br /> and secured to walls and fixtures before beginning actual <br /> abatement activities. <br /> <br /> 3.1.5.2 All polyethylene barriers inside the workplace, in the worker <br /> decontamination enclosure system, in the waste container pass- <br /> out airlock and at partitions constructed to isolate the work <br /> area form occupied areas shall be inspected at least twice <br /> daily, prior to the start of each day's abatement activities <br /> <br /> 4/11/03 62 <br /> <br /> <br />
