Regular City Council Meeting <br />June 5, 2003 <br />Page 4 <br />Block of Jefferson Road. <br />Mayor Fendley called for proponents to appear and Benton Rainey, 835 39t'' S.E., <br />came forward. He said the National Resources Conservation, Soil Conservation, <br />Farm Services Agency, RCD Conservation Development and Lamar County Soil <br />Conservation are requesting the change because they want to purchase two acres <br />to building an office building. Mr. Rainey said it will house several government <br />offices. <br />Alfred Mackin, 660 Twin Oaks, appeared before the City Council telling them that <br />he is also a director of the Lamar Soil and Water Conservation District. He <br />advised that the district is wanting to build a building for the Farm Service <br />Administration and the Natural Resource Conservation and the RCD District. Mr. <br />Mackin said this will be one building and it will be on the two acres of Mr. <br />Rainey's property that they are going to purchase. <br />David Basinger, Deport, Texas, the Lamar County Soil and Water Conservation <br />Chairman, was present speaking in favor of the zoning change. He said Loop 286 <br />access is very good.
