Library Advisory Board <br />July 23, 2003 <br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIBRARY <br />ADVISORY BOARD <br /> July 23, 2003 <br /> <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session <br />Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at 4:00PM in the Library with Chairman <br />Nancee Salzman presiding. The following Board members were present: <br />Anna Davis, Sarah Gambill, Peggy Guthrie, Joyce Kennemer, and Walter <br />Williams. Also attending were Betty Landon, Library Director and Callie <br />Thompson, Friends President. Jackie Alsobrook, Kevin Gray and Vicki <br />Terlap did not attend. <br /> <br />The minutes from June's meeting were approved. <br /> <br />Louise Webb was introduced from the staff. Louise told board members <br />what her responsibilities were and a bit of history about her twenty-five <br />years with the library. <br /> <br />The budget report was reviewed. June circulation statistics were <br />significantly up from last year. The Summer Reading Program began the <br />first week in June and certainly contributed to the rise in circulation. <br /> <br />The Children's Department had a report for the entire Summer Reading <br />Program which ended July 11. During that six week period, the in-library <br />program held 18 programs with 852 children and 357 adults attending. <br />The Summer Mobile Program held 20 programs with 1352 children and <br />325 adults attending. Two of the programs had guest performers, a <br />magician and the Turtle Lady. These programs were paid for by the <br />Friends. In adult outreach, there were 3 programs which 47 attended. <br />Rebecca left materials including books, audio, and magazines this month. <br />We had 31 interlibrary transactions during June and 25 memorial <br />donations, totaling $585. <br /> <br />The board voted to return Nancee Salzman as Chairman and Vicki Terlap <br />as Secretary for the coming year. Jackie Alsobrook was elected as Vice- <br />Chairman. Sarah Gambill will serve as NETLS lay representative and <br />Jackie Alsobrook will continue as alternate lay representative. <br /> <br /> <br />
