Library Advisory Board
August 20, 2003

MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIBRARY
ADVISORY BOARD
August 20, 2003

The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session
Wednesday, August 20, 2003, at 4:00PM in the Library with Vice-
Chairman Jackie Alsobrook presiding. The following Board members
were present: Jackie Alsobrook, Anna Davis, Sarah Gambill, Peggy
Guthrie, Joyce Kennemer, and Walter Williams. Also attending was Betty
Landon, Library Director. Nancee Salzman, Vicki Terlap and Callie
Thompson, Friends President, did not attend.

The agenda was amended to include as Item iii, f., the resignation of Kevin
Gray from the Board and the discussion of possible replacement
candidates.

The minutes from the July meeting were approved.

Emily Kirkman was introduced from the staff. Emily, the Children's
Librarian, told board members about her department and talked about the
summer program and plans for the fall.

The budget report was reviewed. July circulation statistics were down
somewhat from last year. The Summer Reading Program ended in mid-
July.

The Children's Department had no new report for July since the Summer
Reading Program report was given at the last meeting. In adult outreach,
there were 3 programs which 44 attended. Rebecca left materials
including books, audio, and magazines this month. We had 21 interlibrary
loan transactions during July and 38 memorial donations, totaling $890.

The Board suggested Richard Manning or Bill Kennedy as a board
member to finish Kevin Gray's term. Betty will send the information to
the City Manager for the Council's review.
