Regular Council Meeting <br />January 13, 2014 <br />Page 6 <br />reserves within that time frame and stated he would be comfortable with $200,000 to $250,000. <br />Mr. Godwin stated that the City hopes to get money from FEMA. Mayor Hashmi said there <br />should be a liaison for this project and that person should be informing residents of the location <br />and schedule for cleanup of their streets. <br />A Motion to approve spending $250,000 from undesignated reserves for this disaster and <br />to replace the funds pursuant to a plan was made by Mayor Hashmi and seconded by Council <br />Members Drake and Wright. Motion carried, 7 ayes — 0 nays. <br />A Motion to move items 22 and 23 up on the agenda was made by Mayor Hashmi and <br />seconded by Council Member Drake. Motion carried, 7 ayes — 0 nays. <br />22. Discuss and act on permit fees during emergencies. <br />Council Member Lancaster cited the City was receiving 100 calls a day because of <br />broken pipes and each time a resident had to call the someone out to turn off the water due a <br />broken pipe, they were being charged $25.00. She said she did not think this was fair to the <br />residents who already had the burden of the ice storm and that these fees should be waived <br />during an emergency. <br />A Motion to suspend the permit fee from the date of the storm until the end of the month <br />was made by Council Member Drake and seconded by Mayor Hashmi. Motion carried, 7 ayes — <br />0 nays. <br />23. Discuss and act on requirements for private contractors and residents to dump limbs and <br />brush and the location sites. <br />Council Member Drake said this item was not needed, as they had discussed it. <br />21. Receive and discuss annual report and plans for the Fire Department. <br />Mr. Godwin said the fire chief asked that this item be postponed until their next meeting <br />due to length of this meeting. <br />A Motion to table this item was made by Council Member Drake and seconded by <br />Council Member Lancaster. Motion carried, 7 ayes — 0 nays. <br />24. Convene into Executive Session: <br />• Pursuant to Section 551.071 of the Texas Government Code, Consultation with <br />Attorney to receive legal advice from the City Attorney about pending or <br />contemplated litigation and /or on matters in which the duty of an attorney to his <br />client under the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct of the State Bar <br />
