BOARD OF COMM SSTONERS M ET NG <br />100 GEORGE GHT HOMES <br /> July 15, 2003 <br /> !2:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Chainnan James Poston called the meeting to order at 12:30 p.m. with the fei.lowing Board <br />members present: Liltian Brooks, Kathleen Edge, Armette Grant, and JeffHoog. ~so atlend! <br />was Executive Director Denny Head, Assistant Dkector Sally Gibson, and Legal Council T.I <br />Haynes. <br /> <br />Chairman Jmes Poston asked fora motion to accept the minutes from the June 17th board et <br />aomm/ssioners meeting. Motion was made by Jeff Hoog and seconded by ~Xm_nette Grant. <br />Motion was unan/mous 5*0. <br /> <br />Executive Director Denny Head presented the director's report. Denny brough.t: the board up <br />date on all the contracts that the Pads Hoursing Authority had awarded to local contractors fo: <br />past year Md half. The contracts were totaled in excess of $400,000.00. Denny explained tha <br />years past the PHA had difficulty in having any local contractors bid on PI-LA projects. Denn' <br />~xplained mat in the last year the PM has had much success in keeping money Mthin the P: <br />:ommu_n_ity by contracting local businesses. ~ addition, Stephens & Sons Concrete has <br />:ompleted putting in the new pads in the parking areas at G~ & BTW to prevent parking c <br />Ihe streets. 'Foe new maintenance warehouse will be completed by the end of July 2003. The <br />warehouse will be used to store equipment, appliances, etc. By having the warehouse this ,,vi <br />prevent any che~cals and items that are flammable from berg stored in the office area. <br /> <br />Rem 4. Approval for Community Se~ce Procedures. Den_ny Head presented the Board ~ <br />3o~ssioners with a packet that has been sent to all residents ofpubtic housing indicating 1 <br />~he new resident services requirement for community service will be in effect October 1,200 <br />Each resident was prey/deal a list of over 30 agencies that accept community service. Resider <br />were provided information conce~g proced~es of how to comply with conm~ty service <br />~idelines. Residents are required to perform 8 hours ofcommurfity se~'dce per month, per <br />:es/dent. ~formation was provided info~g residents of the persons who may be exempt w <br />a~ould include elderly, ~sabled, or persons who are employed. After a ~scussion of the polk <br />3hairm~ oft he Board Rick Poston asked for a motion to accept the Commtmity Sercice <br />Pro,am. A motion was made by Apmette Grant and seconded by JeffHoog. Vote was <br />ananimous 5-0. <br /> <br />2hairman asked for other items and there being none asked for a mo~on to ~srrfiss.
