MALONE, CITY MANAGER <br />KARL LOUIS, CHIEF OF POLICE <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />PURCHASE OF POLICE CARS <br />(RECOMMENDATION) <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />OCTOBER 22, 2003 <br /> <br />As you know, we were approved for four new police cars in our budget <br />this year, however,, we are only purchasing three at this time as we <br />stated that we would be willing to sacrifice one new car as part of our <br />new pay re-classification request. Therefore, I am requesting that we be <br />allowed to purchase three (3) new 2004 Chevrolet Impala Police <br />Package Vehicles. I am recommending that we purchase the vehicles <br />through the HGAC (Houston - Galveston Area Council of <br />Governments), in which we are a member. These vehicles are very close <br />to the same price as last year and our local dealership said they <br />wouldn't be able to meet or beat the HGAC price at that time. These <br />vehicles have already been bid and will cost the following: <br /> <br />3 - 2004 Chevrolet Impalas (Police Package) = $16,849.00 (per unit) <br /> <br />HGAC fee total (see attached sheet) <br /> <br />= $600.00 <br /> <br />Total Cost <br /> <br />= $51,147.00 <br /> <br />Your consideration of this request is appreciated. <br /> <br />Cc: City Attorney, Larry Schenk <br /> Finance Director, Gene Anderson <br /> <br /> <br />
