Library Advisory Board
October 22, 2003

MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIBRARY
ADVISORY BOARD
October 22, 2003

The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session
Wednesday, October 22, 2003, at 4:00PM in the Library with Chairman
Nancee Salzman presiding. The following Board members were present:
Jackie Alsobrook, Sarah Gambill, Joyce Kennemer, Bill Kennedy, Nancee
Salzman, and Walter Williams. Also attending were Betty Landon,
Library Director and Callie Thompson, Friends President. Peggy Guthrie,
Anna Davis and Vicki Terlap did not attend.

The minutes from the September meeting were approved.

Bill Kennedy was introduced as the new board member.

Betty introduced staff member, Priscilla McAnally. Priscilla is the
Assistant Library Director; she has been working at the library for 10 ½
years. She is responsible for Reference, scheduling the Gallery, nonfiction
book selection, and memorials. She also maintains the Galaxy circulation
system, children's. Priscilla has a Master's Degree in Library Science.
While the board members were talking with Priscilla, they came up with
the idea of putting a sign above Priscilla's desk, saying "Information Desk"
to highlight that area.

Betty presented board members end of the fiscal year budget. The library
came in under the total budget with a few line items going over the
budgeted amount.

September circulation statistics were down 1305 from last September, but
library visits increased. Children's programming resumed in September
with 5 programs and 103 children and 50 adults attending. A Harry Potter
party was one of the programs.
