Library Advisory Board <br />November 19, 2003 <br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIBRARY <br />ADVISORY BOARD <br /> November 19, 2003 <br /> <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session <br />Wednesday, November 19, 2003, at 4:00PM in the Library with Chairman <br />Nancee Salzman presiding. The following Board members were present: <br />Jackie Alsobrook, Anna Davis, Peggy Guthrie, Joyce Kennemer, Nancee <br />Salzman, and Walter Williams. Also attending were Betty Landon, <br />Library Director and Gene Anderson, Finance Director, City of Paris. <br />Sarah Gambill, Bill Kennedy, Vicki Terlap, and Callie Thompson, Friends' <br />President did not attend. <br /> <br />The minutes from the October meeting were approved. <br /> <br />Betty introduced Gene Anderson, Finance Director, City of Paris. Gene <br />presented a report on the various trust funds of Paris Public Library, <br />giving the history, the original donation and the interest available. The <br />funds are invested in CD's to allow quick access, if needed. Each board <br />member was given a printed report. <br /> <br />The budget report was favorable since only one month of the new fiscal <br />year has passed. <br /> <br />October circulation statistics were down 6,320 from last October. <br />Children's programming had 18 programs with 572 children and 312 <br />adults attending. <br /> <br />In adult outreach, there were 2 programs which 29 people attended. There <br />were 26 interlibrary loans. We had 43 memorials given for a total of $930. <br /> <br />In the Director's Report, Betty discussed attending a PLANT meeting and <br />the upcoming NETLS meeting in Garland on December 9. Betty also <br />discussed the retrieving of long overdue items; items which were not <br />returned in 2002 and 2003 total over $70,000. Betty wants to investigate <br />the possibility of getting an ordinance passed about theft of library <br /> <br /> <br />
