Regular City Council Meeting <br />September 8, 2003 <br />Page 17 <br /> <br />Malone advised that Mr. Vest is not a city employee. Mr. Vest is paid by a <br />combination of funding through the ?EDC and the Lamar County Chamber of <br />Commerce. He serves a dual roll and he serves those two different boards and <br />they set his salary. He said that more than 50% of the revenue comes from the <br />taxes through the Hotel-Motel tax and the sales tax that goes to the ?EDC. <br /> <br />Mr. Anderson said the Hotel-Motel tax is collected by contract and 95% is sent <br />over to the Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Vest is funded in part by that money. <br />The sales tax that goes to the ?EDC is collected by the city and it is transferred <br />over to the ?EDC. Mr. Vest is also paid in part by the ?EDC and they pay all of <br />Eric Roddy's salary. <br /> <br />Mayor Fendley asked if anyone had heard from K?B and City Attorney Schenk <br />advised that he had been at a meeting and they indicated that they were looking <br />for a $5,000.00 contribution from the city. <br /> <br />Mayor Fendley announced that the City Council had been furnished minutes of <br />previous meetings, and asked if there were any corrections or additions. There <br />being none, a motion was made by Mayor Pro Tem McCarthy, seconded by <br />Councilman Bell for approval of the minutes.
