Library Advisory Board
December 17, 2003

MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIBRARY
ADVISORY BOARD
December 17, 2003

The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session
Wednesday, December 17, 2003, at 4:00PM in the Library with Chairman
Nancee Salzman presiding. The following Board members were present:
Jackie Alsobrook, Anna Davis, Sarah Gambill, Peggy Guthrie, Bill
Kennedy, Nancee Salzman, and Walter Williams. Also attending was Betty
Landon, Library Director. Joyce Kennemer and Callie Thompson,
Friends' President, did not attend.

The minutes from the November meeting were approved.

Betty told the board of Vicki Terlap's resignation. The board would like to
replace her with someone representing mothers with children in school. A
few names were suggested and Betty will check with Emily Kirkman about
suggestions. She will talk to the people suggested to see if they are
interested in serving before suggesting names to City Council.

The budget report was favorable.

November circulation statistics were down from last November; however,
this November, the library was open 4 fewer days. Our daily circulation
count was above last year's daily count. Children's programming had 15
programs with 372 children and 120 adults attending. These programs
included puppet shows held every afternoon during Children's Book
Week. In Children's Outreach, 14 programs were held with 227 children
attending and 41 adults.

In adult outreach, there were 2 programs which 37 people attended. There
were 34 interlibrary loans. We had 21 memorials given for a total of $439.

In the Director's Report, Betty discussed the Loan Star Libraries contract
which we should receive in December. The staff is now checking $20 bills
and higher for counterfeit because of a rash of counterfeit money being
court.
