Regular City Council Meeting
January 12,2004
Page 25

submitting to the Council.

Councilman Bell said the City is at the higher end on the property tax rate and
the water rate. The Council needs to see what they can do to keep competitive
with the employees and benefits and at the same time, hold the line on the
property tax and water rates. He felt there were innovative ways to address
these things.

Mayor Fendley said everyone needs to look at these recommendations and
think about what needs to be done, so it can be discussed in a future Council
Meeting., before budget time. He said that they will discuss this in March and
make recommendations to staff.

Mayor Fendley reminded the Council that it was the time of year to start the
evaluations of the City Manager, City Attorney, and the Municipal Judge, a
process which was begun last year. He called the Council's attention to the
evaluation forms in their packet and copies of last year's evaluations.
Councilwoman Neeley, who was a part of the committee that produced the
form, stated that there needed to be discussion on the process before the
evaluations were done, so all of the Council would understand the process.
Mayor Fendley stated that it needed to be put on the February Council agenda,
at which time they can discuss if they feel like any changes need to made to the
evaluation form. It was the consensus that this would be discussed in February.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.

ATTEST:

CURTIS FENDLEY,

MAYOR

MATTIE CUNNINGHAM, CITY CLERK
