Library Advisory Board
January 21, 2004

MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIBRARY
ADVISORY BOARD
January 21, 2004

The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session
Wednesday, January 21, 2004, at 4:00PM in the Library with Chairman
Nancee Salzman presiding. The following Board members were present:
Jackie Alsobrook, Sarah Gambill, Bill Kennedy, Nancee Salzman, and
Walter Williams. Also attending was Betty Landon, Library Director.
Anna Davis, Peggy Guthrie, Joyce Kennemer and Callie Thompson,
Friends' President, did not attend.

The minutes from the December meeting were approved.

Under new business, Betty told the board of Joyce Kennemer's resignation
as of January 20. Deborah Harley's name has been forwarded for Council
approval for Vicki Terlap's position on the board. Carl Lucas was
suggested and agreed upon for Joyce Kennemer's replacement. His name
will be forwarded for Council approval.

The budget report was favorable.

December circulation statistics were down from last December, but not
significantly. The limitation on video check-outs is affecting circulation;
once that has been in effect for a year, the statistics will be more
comparable. Children's programming had 31 programs with 701 children
and 85 adults attending. These programs included a Christmas program
and visits to Chisum Elementary School. In Children's Outreach, 13
programs were held with 239 children attending and 43 adults.

In adult outreach, there were 2 programs which 30 people attended. There
were 26 interlibrary loans. We had 18 memorials given for a total of $500.
