Library Advisory Board
February 18, 2004

MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIBRARY
ADVISORY BOARD
February 18, 2004

The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session
Wednesday, February 18, 2004, at 4:00PM in the Library with Chairman
Nancee Salzman presiding. The following Board members were present:
Jackie Alsobrook, Deborah Harley, Sarah Gambill, Peggy Guthrie, Bill
Kennedy, Carl Lucas, Nancee Salzman, and Walter Williams. Also
attending was Betty Landon, Library Director. Anna Davis, and Callie
Thompson, Friends' President, did not attend.

The minutes from the January meeting were approved.

Under new business, the new board members were introduced and each
told the board something about themselves.

The budget report was favorable.

January circulation statistics were down about 3.5% from last January.
Children's programming had 6 programs with 118 children and 53 adults
attending. These programs included a Leap Year Party. In Children's
Outreach, 12 programs were held with 177 children attending and 37
adults.

In adult outreach, there were 2 programs which 26 people attended. There
were 31 interlibrary loans. We had 28 memorials given for a total of $450.

Jackie Alsobrook made a motion that the Board pass a Resolution of
sympathy for the Robert Pierson family because he was a board member
and chairman of the board of the Library in the past. Peggy Guthrie
seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.

In the Director's Report, Betty informed the members that the sign which
they recommended for the Information Desk is now in place and has been a
big help in directing people for reference assistance. Betty attended a
NETLS Joint Committee Meeting on February 5 in Garland to participate
