MAIN STREET MEETING PRESENTATION BY BABENDURE DESIGN GROUP Lamar Avenue Project and Gateway Presentation Monday, March 8, 2004, 10:00 a.m. Paris Junior College Applied Technology Building Room 1040 Present Main Street Board Members: Pike Burkhart, Sr., Barbara Wilson, Other attendees: Ann Gilliland, Lindsey Harper, Mike Malone, Jimmy Nicholson, Linda Ridder, Larry Schenk, Lisa Wright Bernie Babendure, Todd Lilly and Heather Chandler of the Babendure Design Group conducted a presentation explaining what they as consultants visualize for the city of Paris and who how they define themselves as a company. Todd Lilly stated that the Babendure Design Group provides professional graphic design services, which can consult with TXDOT on Lamar Avenue and the proposed TXDOT City of Paris Gateway Signage designs. Our work will include how the City of Paris, other various organizations and the Babendure Design Group could work together as our consultants for the following projects and create a vision and master plan. Bernie Babendure pointed out they would like to attend a coordination meeting with TX Dot to discuss TX Dot’s impact on the existing business signage along Lamar Avenue, and provide written recommendations as to possible design directions for considerations for the replacement signs. The goal would be to understand TX Dot’s contribution for the sign replacements and its curb design along affected Lamar Avenue properties. Also, they wanted to review placement and design studies suggested by TXDOT for the City Gateway signs at the main entries in Paris. This would be an opportunity for new signs to go up especially if TX Dot was not putting the signs back up in the original location, therefore; providing organizations such a Mainstreet, Keep Paris Beautiful , Paris Living, etc. leverage to work with the property owners and suggest new sign designs and assistance for putting up new signs.
