Minutes of Regular Meeting Paris-Lamar County Board of J lealth The Paris-Lamar County Board of Health held its regular meeting on Wednesday, September 25, 2002 at Christus St. Joseph North. Board members in attendance ineluded Ms. Vickie Bonham, Mrs. Ann Norment, Dr. Edward Clark, and Dr. Robert Moseley. Others in attendance included Judge Chuck Superville, Mr. Anthony Bethcl, Mrs, LaDonna Koehn, Mr. Paul Swasko and Mrs. Carla Rhodes. The meeting was called to order at 7: 15. The minutes ofthe previous meeting were approved. Mr. Bethel reported that the Rioterrorism Grant started on June J, 2002, but a R.N. has not been hired, so none of the Grant money has been spent in case the Regional Health Department takes the Biotcrrorism Grant back. Mr. Bethel reported that a truck and equipment is needing to be purchased in FYO3 f(H spraying mosquitos, but there is no money in the budget 1òr this purchase, he would need to do line item budget. lie explained that one of the spraying trucks and equipment was stolen and was t"und in Dallas striped. Mr. Rethcl stated we need to either get another truck and equipment or get out of the spraying program. He stated spraying the adult mosquitos isn't what kills out mosquitos, it's killing the larva in ditches. Health Department docs not have a grant for spraying. Mr. Bethel stated that he has sent off many dead birds but the first one was found to have West Nile Virus on Sept. 24, 2002, and he was told not to send any more offsinee West Nile is in Lamar County. Board members and others in attendance gave the lòllowing suggestions, use County inmates to spray ditches, check on grant for West Nilc Virus, County Commissioners might have ¡¡ truck to purchase. Also contact Rojuan at the RSVP program at P,TC !"r free service to do spraying, hire personnel to do spraying and check on insurance on stolen truck and equipment. Mr. Bcthel states the bw suit that the Health Department is in goes to court, Tuesday, October I, 2002. Billing clerk is still in the budget. Mr. Bethel states program auditors will be in the Health Department October 7-9, 2002, and next weck lìnancial auditors will be auditing. Mr. Bcthel passed out monthly reports to the board and went over the reports with board members. Mr. Bethel st¡¡tcs he is working on a grant f"r teleconference, used "r teaching personnel and patients. Nurses could get CElJ's. There will be a match of J 0% ($4000.00), required by the llcalth Department fòr the teleconference gmnt. Also the llealth Department is now responsible "r testing and mcdications for HIV positivc inmatcs in the county jail. Mr. Swasko announced about the Stake Holders Meeting.
