A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, DECLARING AS SURPLUS A SET OF USED MECHANICAL SCALES AS PART OF THE ABANDONED EQUIPMENT IN THE UARCO BUILDING AND AUTHORIZING TRANSFER OF SAID SCALES TO THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS, BUSTER COLE STATE JAIL IN BONHAM, TEXAS; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, inmates and supervisors of the Texas Department of Corrections, Buster Cole State Jail, have provided countless hours of assistance to the City of Paris in removing and clearing the UARCO Building in preparation for its conversion to a new Police and Municipal Courts facility; and, WHEREAS, such dedicated efforts by said inmates and their supervisors have saved the taxpayers of the City of Paris thousands of dollars in construction costs; and, WHEREAS, a set of used mechanical scales are a part of the abandoned equipment in the UARCO building; and, WHEREAS, it is determined that said scales are of no use to the City of Paris and should be declared surplus personal property; and, WHEREAS, representatives of the Buster Cole State Jail have expressed a need for such scales in the operation of the jail facility; and, WHEREAS, it is deemed appropriate to transfer said scales to the Texas Department of Corrections, Buster Cole State Jail in Bonham, Texas, in return for demolition assistance by inmates; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That a set of inechanical scales, the same constituting a part of the abandoned equipment in the UARCO building, be, and the same is hereby, declared to be surplus property of the City of Paris, and the same is hereby transferred to the Texas Department of Corrections, Buster Cole State Jail in Bonham, Texas, in return for the thousands of taxpayers dollars saved as a result of the outstanding demolition assistance provided by inmates.
