Minutes of the Historic Preservation Public Hearings January 15, 2004 Paris Junior College Paris, Texas The meeting was called to order at 6:02 p.m. by the Chairman Arvin Starrett. After the roll call by the secretary Ann Rogers, the following members were present were: Arvin Starrett Ann Rogers Paul Denney Barbara Wilson Claudia Hunt Jerry Raper Sue Lancaster Brian Wear Absent was Becki Norment lteI!1~ After determining that a quorom was present, Chairman Starrett began with Item 3 on the agenda - presentation regarding the area for potential designation as the Church Street, South Main Street, and 1st Street SW Historic District. The Chairman provided the background and legal information regarding the Historic Preservation Commission and the reason for the statute enacted by the City Council of Paris that established the Commission. The area will be known as South Church Street Historical District General description of the designated area was given by Chairman Starrett. ( See attachment A for a boundary map of the area. ) A boundary map was provided at the front of the meeting room for persons who came to the Public Hearing. 11em4 Homeowners were notified by mail of the proposed regulation. Those homeowners who were present at the hearing were again given the regulations by the Chairman. Item 5 There were 17 speakers who presented their views to the Commission. Among the 16 speakers, there were 5 who were against the proposed Historical District, one who had questions and 11 who were for the Proposed Historical District .(A complete tape of the entire meeting is available if you wish to hear each individual speaker's comments.)
