Main Street Advisory Board
May 24, 2004
Page 2

within the next two weeks for a kick off meeting.

B. Lindsey Harper stated that the Farmer's Market is now the
responsibility of Main Street. Judy Kay Ambs was in charge
of the Farmer's Market for the past eight years. Lindsey
Harper has submitted the application to the Texas Department
of Health,WIC Program. We are now waiting on their
signature for WIC cards to be valid at the Farmer's Market.
The Market will open June 1st and run through September 30,
2004, pending approval of the application.
C. Lindsey Harper will talk to the Downtown Merchants
regarding placing emblems on storefronts outlining the history
of downtown buildings. This would be the primary phase of
the Historic Downtown Walking Tour. The Board felt it would
be appropriate to award plaques to different store and
property owners for their outstanding support and dedication
to downtown on an annual or bi-annual basis. Lindsey Harper
will discuss the Downtown Merchant's opinions and
suggestions at the next Main Street meeting.
D. The Visionaries in Preservation Program application is to
be mailed tomorrow, May 25th, in order to meet the THC's
deadline. Suzy Harper thanked the board for the letters of
support. Barbara Wilson reported on her findings of other
successful cities that are involved in the Visionaries in
Preservation Program. She remarked that many communities
have learned that although it is a time consuming process, it is
definitely worth the work to see the on going results which are
being established and mastered in a timely manner.
6. Barbara Wilson requested that the PJC parking lot be placed
on the next agenda as well as a possible date and discussion for
a "Whine and Cheese" gathering with the Downtown
Merchants.
7. Meeting was adjourned at 3:40 p.m.
