Regular Council Meeting <br />September 22, 2014 <br />Page 4 <br />With the exception of raises, Council Member Hashmi approved this item and seconded <br />by Council Member Pickle. Motion carried, 7 ayes — 0 nays. <br />15. Discuss and ratify the property tax rate increase reflected in the budget as required by <br />Local Government Code Section 102.007(C). <br />Mr. Godwin explained that City Council was required to take a separate vote to ratify the <br />property tax increase reflected in the 2014 -15 Budget in compliance with Local Government <br />Code Section 102.007(c). <br />A Motion to approve this item was made by Council member Hashmi and seconded by <br />Council member Pickle. Motion carried, 7 ayes — 0 nays. <br />16. Discuss and act on ORDINANCE NO. 2014 -021: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY <br />COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, FIXING THE TAX RATE AND THE <br />TAX LEVY AND LEVYING AD VALOREM TAXES FOR THE CITY OF PARIS <br />FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR 2014 UPON ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY WITHIN <br />THE CITY OF PARIS IN CONFORMITY WITH THE CHARTER PROVISIONS AND <br />ORDINANCES OF THE CITY; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS <br />RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF <br />ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br />Mr. Godwin said the ad valorem tax rate of $0.50195 per $100 would be maintained and <br />this tax rate would increase property tax revenue by $189,690 over the current year's budget. <br />A Motion to approve this item was made by Council Member Hashmi and seconded by <br />Council Member Lancaster. Motion carried, 7 ayes — 0 nays. <br />17. Discuss and act on proposed amendments to the Paris Economic Development <br />Corporation's budget for fiscal year 2013 -2014. <br />PEDC Interim Executive Director explained these amendments were budget neutral and <br />were unanimously approved by the Board. <br />A Motion to approve this item was made by Council Member Hashmi and seconded by <br />Council Member Plata. Motion carried, 7 ayes — 0 nays. <br />18. Discuss Paris Convention & Visitors Council minutes of May 29, 2014 and receive <br />clarification on reference made of the economic study and upstairs remodel. <br />Mr. Godwin said he met with Melissa Cook on August 29 and confirmed that the <br />economic development expense was for the study done by TAMU regarding the economic <br />impact of various programs hosted in Paris. He also said the expense for upstairs work for 50% <br />
