MINUTES <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION <br />CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS <br />107 E. KAUFMAN STREET <br />PARIS, TEXAS <br />TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 2014 <br />5:30 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />The meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, was <br />called to order at 5: 30 p.m. by Jerry Akers, Vice - Chairman. <br />A. The following members were present: Holland Harper, Jerry Akers, Mike Folmar, <br />James Price and Barney Bray <br />B. The following members were absent: John Lee and Billy Trenado <br />C. Also present were Shawn Napier, Director of Engineering, Planning and <br />Development; Alan Efrussy, Planning Manager; and Ashley Fendley, Secretary for <br />the Planning and Zoning Commission. <br />2. Approval of minutes from previous meetings. (August 4, 2014) <br />Motion was made by Mike Folmar, seconded by Jerry Akers to approve minutes for the <br />August 4, 2014 meeting. Motion carried 5 -0. <br />3. Public hearing and consideration of and action on the petition for the Historic District <br />Overlay (HD) for Reverend Michael Massey on behalf of Mt. Canaan Baptist Church, Lots <br />part of II and part of 12, Block 5, Texas & Pacific Addition, being located at 60 Sycamore <br />Street. <br />Public hearing was declared open. <br />A. One individual spoke in favor of the petition. <br />Reverend Michael Massey, of Paris, Texas, spoke in favor of the petition. Reverend <br />Massey stated Mt. Canaan Baptist Church has been in existence for 128 years and <br />would like to become a historical asset in the City of Paris. <br />B. No one spoke in opposition. <br />Public hearing was declared closed. <br />Motion was made by James Price, seconded by Barney Bray to approve the petition. <br />
