2014-026 Amended Section 26-9 Seniority Pay of Chapter 26, Police, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris, to add additional seniority pay steps for sworn police officers

(e) All officers of the rank of Assistant Chief, seniority pay shall be added to each Assistant Chief s base pay, based on the following schedule of years in service to the Paris Police Department: 1. For all Assistant Chiefs with less than fifteen (15) years of service - One hundred forty -five dollars and thirty one cents ($145.31) per pay period. 2. For all Assistant Chiefs with fifteen (15) or more years of service - One hundred eight -two dollars and forty five cents ($182.45) per pay period. (f) The seniority pay provided by this section shall be in addition to the regular base pay received by the member or members of the police department qualifying for same." Section 4. That all provisions of the ordinances of the City of Paris, Texas in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed, and all other provisions of the ordinances of the City of Paris not in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance shall remain in full force and effect. Section 5. That the repeal of any ordinance or part of ordinances affected by the enactment of this ordinance shall not be construed as abandoning any action now pending under or by virtue of such ordinance or as discontinuing, abating, modifying, or altering any penalty accruing or to accrue, or as affecting any rights of the municipality under any section or provisions of any ordinance at the time of passage of this ordinance. Section 6. That it is the intention of the City Council of the City of Paris that this ordinance and every provision hereof, shall be considered severable, and the invalidity or partial invalidity of any section, clause, or provisions of this ordinance shall not affect the validity of any other portion of this ordinance. Section 7. This Ordinance does not demonstrate, nor is it any evidence of any intent to form a contract, unilateral or otherwise, with any civil service employee. This ordinance is enacted to comply with Chapter 143, Texas Local Government Code, specifically §143.041, and for no other purpose. Section 8. This ordinance shall become effective from and after its passage and publication as required by law. The new seniority pay steps set forth herein shall be effective with the first pay period in January 2015. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 8th day of December, 2014. Matt Frierson, Mayor
