RESOLUTION NO. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, DECLARING 12.662 ACRES OF LAND LOCATED IN THE 800 -900 BLOCK OF FM 1508 (EAST SIDE) AND GENERALLY AT THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF COX FIELD AIRPORT, BEING PART OF THE WILLIAM SCOTT SURVEY # 856, CITY OF PARIS, LAMAR COUNTY, TEXAS TO BE SURPLUS PROPERTY; AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF THE PROPERTY BY COMPETITIVE SEALED BID IN ACCORDANCE WITH STATE LAW; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVSIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Paris owns approximately 1,552.97 acres of land located North of US 271 and East of FM 1508 (Airport Road) a portion of which is designated as Paris Cox Field; and, WHEREAS, this land was conveyed to the City by the United States War Assets Administration Department following World War II for development and use of a municipal airport; and, WHEREAS, AGPRO, Inc. a manufacturer of dairy equipment located at 859 Airport Road, Paris, Texas is looking to expand its current operation in Paris and is interested in purchasing approximately 12.662 acres to the east and adjacent to its current 10 acre facility; and WHEREAS, in connection with AGPRO'S proposed project, the City requested and received a Surplus Property Release from the Federal Aviation Administration for the 12.662 acres described in the Surplus Property Release attached hereto as Exhibit "A "; and WHEREAS, the City and the FAA have determined that the AGPRO project will not adversely affect airport operations, growth or development of Cox Field. WHEREAS, the appraised value of the 12.662 acres of land is Eighty -Nine Thousand Dollars and No /100 ($89,000.00). If the property is sold this would be the minimum dollar amount accepted for the land; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris, Texas, hereby authorizes the sale of the property in accordance with state and local law. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, THAT: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things approved.
