Item No. 24 <br />memorandum <br />TO: Mayor & City Council <br />FROM: John Godwin, City Manager <br />SUBJECT: CITY ROADS & REPAIRS <br />DATE: January 6, 2015 <br />BACKGROUND: Dr. Hashmi has requested that we again discuss the status of roads and road <br />repairs and replacements. The road repair maintenance budgets for the last five years, exclusive <br />of personnel and equipment costs, plus the current 2014 -15 budget, are as follows: <br />2014 -15 <br />2013 -14 <br />2012 -13 <br />2011 -12 <br />2010 -11 <br />2009 -10 <br />460,000.00 <br />460,000.00 <br />460,000.00 <br />465,000.00 <br />425,000.00 <br />425,000.00 <br />In addition, last August the council agreed to spend $180,000 from unencumbered fund balance <br />on streets in three council districts that have especially older roads. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: We are currently patching and repairing street surfaces, cleaning roadside <br />ditches, replacing curb and gutter at various locations, and completing several level -ups. The <br />annual crack seal program is scheduled to being in mid - January, including both the Trail de Paris <br />and the Oak Park track. <br />Chip seal work can be completed only in warm weather, so is scheduled for June and July. <br />Planned streets include portions of. 13th NE, E. Price, E. Cherry, 16" NE, 14' NE, Pine Bluff, <br />Walnut, 19th NW, 11th NW, W. Garrett. W. Booth, 6th SE, Old Jefferson, Old Bonham, 13th SW, <br />Neagle, West Austin, and West Washington. <br />BUDGET: NA <br />RECOMMENDATION: Discussion only. <br />
