Minutes <br />Traffic Commission <br />City of Paris <br />The Traffic Commission met on Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010, at 5:15 P.M. in the <br />Municipal Courtroom with the following members present: <br />1. <br />Ken Kohls <br />2. <br />Ray Banks <br />3. <br />Jon McFadden <br />4. <br />Stephen Holmes <br />5. <br />George Kimbrough <br />The city staff was represented by Asst. Chief Randy Tuttle. <br />Councilman Joe McCarthy was present a council liaison member <br />The meeting was called to order at 5:15pm by Chairman Kimbrough. A quorum <br />was established by 5 members being present. <br />Mr. Kimbrough asked the commission members to review the submitted minutes <br />of the January 5th, 2010 meeting. Mr. Holmes made a motion to approve the <br />minutes which was seconded by Mr. Banks and passed 5 -0. <br />Mr. Kimbrough moved to item #3 regarding the discussion and action for a <br />request to place a school zone at the new Paris High School in the 2900 block <br />SE Loop 286. After discussion of this item Mr. Holmes made a motion to request <br />TXDOT do a traffic study for the placement of a school zone at this location. The <br />motion was seconded by Mr. McFadden and passed 5 -0. <br />Mr. Kimbrough moved to item #4 regarding discussion and action concerning a <br />request for a school zone in the 2900 block Jefferson at the new Paris High <br />School. Mr Tuttle informed the members that the Mayor had received a letter <br />from TXDOT requesting an ordinance on this school zone. The school zone <br />would be in effect from forty -five minutes prior to school and thirty minutes after <br />school dismisses at a speed of 35 mph. After discussion of this item a motion to <br />approve the request was made by Mr. Holmes and second by Mr. Kohls. Motion <br />passed 5 -0. <br />Mr. Kimbrough moved to item #5 regarding the presentation and discussion <br />concerning traffic study at 33rd SE & Lamar. Mr Tuttle advised members that <br />TXDOT had completed the traffic study and recommended a traffic signal be <br />placed to control traffic leaving the Continental Village apartments into the <br />intersection. A pedestrian crossing at west side and south side of intersection <br />was also proposed. This was not an action item so it will be placed on March <br />agenda as an action item. <br />
