Traffic Commission Meeting <br />Date SEP Ohs 2001 <br />Page 2 <br />Kenneth Webb seconded and the motion carried 7 ayes to 0 nays. <br />Next, a request for Stop Signs on SW. 16" at West Kaufman stopping North <br />and South bound traffic was considered. <br />Barnett reported he had received calls from two or more citizens in this <br />neighborhood concerned about this intersection. A check of police records <br />showed that three (3) accidents had been reported at this location in the last <br />few months and recommended the stop signs be placed as requested. <br />Mary Lane made a motion to place these stop signs as requested. Kenneth <br />Webb seconded and the motion carried 7 ayes to 0 nays. <br />A request for Stop Signs on NW 23" Street at West Shiloh Street stopping <br />North and South bound traffic on NW 23rd Street at West Shiloh Street was <br />considered next. <br />A citizen in the neighborhood had contacted Councilman Benny Plata with <br />concerns about this being an unsafe intersection. Police records showed there <br />had been two (2) accidents reported here in the past few months and Barnett <br />recommended the signs be placed as recommended. <br />Kenneth Webb made a motion to place the signs. Mary Lane seconded and <br />the motion carried 7 ayes to 0 nays. <br />The next item of business was Texas Department of Transportation <br />recommended speed zones on State Highway 19/24, FM 195 and on SW. Loop <br />286. <br />Ricky Mackey asked that he be excused from taking part in discussion or <br />action on these recommendations since he works for TxDOT. He did agree <br />to explain the maps furnished by TxDOT that showed the locations of the <br />speed zones. <br />After discussion Charles Thompson made a motion that all three locations be <br />
