MINUTES <br />TRAFFIC SAFETY COMMISSION <br />TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 1978 <br />5:15 O'CLOCK P. M. <br />COUNCIL ROOM - CITY HALL <br />PARIS, TEXAS <br />The Traffic Safety Commission of the City of Paris met in regular session, <br />Tuesday, September 5, 1978 at 5:15 P.M. with the following members present: <br />1. Julian Hendren <br />2. Harvey Cavender <br />3. Nancy Swaim <br />4. James McFadden <br />5. Robert White <br />6. Frank Sherman <br />The Minutes of the August meeting were approved as submitted. <br />In reference to the tree obstructing the view of a Stop Sign on Graham at 7th <br />Street N.W., the Commission accepted a recommendation from the Traffic Safety <br />Coordinator that a "Stop Ahead" warning sign be placed in advance of the Stop <br />Sign. The sign meets the required warrants, and eliminates the need of removing <br />the obstruction. <br />In reference to a request made by Commissioner Williams at the August meeting <br />concerning obstructions at intersections created by parked cars, the Commission <br />was informed that there is an ordinance regulating this type of obstruction. <br />The Traffic Safety Coordinator indicated that all -out efforts would be made in <br />enforcing this ordinance. <br />The Traffic Safety Coordinator informed the Commission that the mainline rail- <br />road crossings' in the City would be brought into compliance with the State <br />warrants through the placement of railroad warning signs. <br />Harvey Cavender made a motion that the Commission accept a recommendation from <br />the Traff.i.c Safety Coordinator which disallowed a "Multiway Stop" at the inter- <br />section of Fitzhugh and Clement Road. James McFadden seconded the motion, and 4tt <br />carried unanimously. The Traffic Safety Coordinator agreed to keep this inter- <br />section under periodic review, and to further study the problem of obstruction> <br />at this intersection. <br />Nancy Swaim made a motion that the Commission recommend Council Authorization <br />for the following streets intersection Loop 286: 29th Street S.E.; 6th Street <br />S.E.; 7th Street S.W.; 3rd Street S.E.; Old Brookston Road; and, Jefferson Road.. <br />Frank Sherman seconded the motion and it carried unanimously. <br />The Commission heard a request from Jeff Look that a special parking zone equipneJ <br />with "bike" racks be placed on the Plaza. The Commission agreed to study the rr;?ttor <br />further. <br />There being no further business, the Commission adjourned at 5:45 P.M. <br />Mike Koch <br />
