MINUTES OF MEETING <br />PARIS TRAFFIC COMMISSION <br />August &, 1974 <br />The Traffic Commission of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas net at <br />5:20 P.M., Tuesday, August G, 1974, in the City Council Room, City ball. <br />Chairman Lightfoot called the meeting to order with the following rjembers <br />present: Mr. Lightfoot, Mr. Johnson, Mr. Williams, Mr. Ilall and Mr. <br />Cavender. Thus a quorum teas present. Also in attendance were: Mr. Holberg <br />and Mr. Cooke of the City and Mike Toole of the Paris News. <br />Iir. Ilolberg presented to the Cocmission status reports on the City's <br />sign machine, the traffic control device inventory program and the traffic <br />accident report computer program. <br />A request for the designation of a no parking zone on the East side <br />of 24th Street S.E. from the intersection of 24th S.E and Clark Lane 120 <br />LF South was approved. On a notion by Mr. Edwards, seconded by Mr. Villiams, <br />the Cor.,,;�ission unaninously voted to recoir;mend to the City Council the <br />designation of the no parking zone. <br />After discussion, a request.for the change from one -way traffic to <br />two -way traffic on Ilest Kaufman between 19th Street S.W. and 21st Street <br />S.W. was approved by a unanimous vote. Motion was rude by Mr. Mall, <br />seconded by Mr. Wfiiliares. <br />A request for the change from one -way traffic to two- way,traffic on <br />3rd Street H.U. from Graham to Bonhari was presented by Mr. Ilolberg to the <br />Coa:uaission. A Mr. Huggins, a Paris citizen, then requested that the pro- <br />posed change extend south to 1lest Kaufman. After discussion_ the request, <br />a�-, -nded to include that portion to [lest Kaufman; fijas referred back to City <br />staff for additional study. <br />A request for stop signs at the intersection of [-lest Kaufman and 31st <br />Street S.11. was referred to a ccmriittee headed by Mr. Cavender for a report <br />at the next regular meeting. <br />A request for 4 - -way stop signing at the intersection of Clark Lane <br />and Johnsons Wood Drive was referred back to City stiff for continued study. <br />Mr. Cavender than roved with a second by Mr. Johnson that the staff <br />study the problem created by bicycles on the sidawalks in the Central <br />Business District. Motion carried. <br />Mr. Lightfoot then requested a study to develop batter traffic control <br />around City construction and repair areas. <br />
