'A"I"NUES OF M&:Z'.TL\!G <br />PAFXS '_7RAFFIC =09-8SIGN <br />13 <br />er 4 91 <br />The Traffic Caraaission of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, met at 5:15 P.M. <br />I <br />.Nesday, September 4, 1973, in the City Council Room, City Hall, with the <br />following membe-:s present.- Jimmy Johnson, Vice Chairman, Bob Torment, Glen <br />Ed-wards, Bethel Holmes, Leon Williams. Others present: Tom Hagood, Texas <br />Highway Departffg_nt, Loyd Mathews, Police Chief, Kerry R. Sweatt, City <br />Manager, Phil Ransom, Traffic 'Safety Coordinator, and John W. Cooke, Director <br />of Public Worts, <br />1. The request of Mr. Ingram, School Superintendent, for a Speed Zone ou <br />l8th Street N.W. from Graham to Shiloh, was discussed. Chief Mathews and <br />John Cooke -,.-e corm aended that the limit be set at 25 M.P.H. to conform with <br />the 19th Street N.W. side. <br />Mr. Bob Xorrivnt moved, seconded by Mr. Glen Edwards, that the Traffic <br />Commission 7_eco_mand the passage of an Ordinance by the City Council, <br />changing the speed 11adt to 25 N.F.H on 18th St. N.W. from Graham to <br />Shiloh. Motion carried unanimously. <br />20 The Vice Chairman appointed Mr. Glen Edwards and Jimmy Johnson to study <br />the requests of Jack Denman for "Four-way Stops (Signs)" at the following <br />locations.- <br />Pride Circle at Johnson Woods Drive <br />Abbott I-ane at Johnson Woods Drive <br />rLahaffay at Johnson Woods Drive <br />Clark lla-ne at Johnson Woods Drive <br />T,Lh e Committee is to repoxta back at the next Traffic Commission Meeting. <br />30 The Traffic Cr.arrainsion discussed at length the unwarranted signal lights <br />that will bet le-Eft in the system when the TOPICS Program on 29 inter- <br />sections is completz. Mr. Hagood reported that the State Contractor is <br />being Veld up 'hecause of lack of construction materials. No further <br />action � ias %alven by the Commission. <br />4. Mr. Kerry Sweatt i.ntroeuced new city employee Mr. Phil Ransom, who has <br />recently been employed by :%e city as Traffic Safety Coordinator, and out- <br />lined blow he is planning to use him in a coordination effect,, between <br />governmen't-al units and the community.
