Chamber of Commerce 9037842158 11/14/2013 09:24 #188 P.002I002 <br />Paris Convention and Visitors Council <br />Love Civic Center <br />Thursday, August 22nd, 2013 <br />4:00 p.m. <br />Present: Bobby Walters, Derald Bulls, Jeff Martin, Jon McFadden, Helen Bonham Short, <br />Rita Haynes, Robert High, James Brockway, Roy Gwinn <br />Staff: Becky Semple, Melissa Cook, Mary Faber <br />Chairman Bobby Walters called the meeting to order at 4:02 p.m. <br />First, the minutes from the June 6`h meeting were presented. Motion to approve was made by <br />Robert High, seconded by James Brockway and passed. <br />Next, the financials were presented. Motion to approve was made by Derald Bulls, seconded by <br />Roy Gwinn and passed. <br />New Business — Funding requests were presented. <br />1 Mad Max Run requested $2500. Motion to approve $1500 was made by Jeff Martin, <br />seconded by Roy Gwinn, and passed. <br />2. PHS Basketball Tournament requested $2500. Motion to approve $1500 was made by <br />Roy Gwinn, seconded by Jeff Martin, and passed with Robert High abstaining. <br />3. Christmas in Fair Park requested $2500. Motion to approve $1000 was made by <br />Robert High, seconded by Derald Bulls and passed, with Rita Haynes and Roy Gwinn abstaining. <br />Melissa Cook suggested that the V &CC have an economic impact study done on the Archery <br />Tournament and on the Tour de Paris for use in justifying their viability and present to the City <br />Council next Spring when the budget for 2013 -2014 is presented. Motion to commission Texas <br />A &M Commerce to do such a study was made by James Brockway, seconded by Derald Bulls <br />and passed. Also, the subject of the Veterans free use of the Civic Center for their Veterans Day <br />program was discussed. It was decided that this year would be free, but that they understand <br />in the future, they would be charged for the facility. <br />With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 5:12 p.m. <br />Respectfully Submitted, <br />Becky Semp e <br />
