Regular Meeting of the Main Street Advisory Board <br />City Council Chambers <br />107 East Kaufman <br />Paris, Texas <br />Tuesday October 25, 2011 <br />4:00 o'clock <br />1. call to order: 4:12 by Matt <br />2.Roll Call: <br />Present: absent: <br />Ashlea Mattoon Becky Semple <br />Britin Bostick <br />Cheri Bedford <br />Matt Coyle <br />Kari Daniel. <br />Bill Harris <br />Guests: Edwin Pickle, City of Paris Councilman <br />3. Approval of august minutes/ motion by BB, seconded by Bill <br />4. Main Street Manager Report <br />a. Festival of Pumpkins - good feedback, estimate 10,000 Britin says <br />12,000! Kids games went well, addition of labyrinth and free kids games along <br />Clarksville Street. Vendors were happy, music worked well, Zombie walk raised 3K <br />for food pantry and about 250 for walk, 30 people donated blood. <br />Cheri shared thanks to traffic, sanitation and parks department for their <br />wonderful job decorating the plaza. They built archways and lots of photo opts. <br />Matt pointed out what a great job Cheri did; this was seconded by all board <br />members. Britin mentioned how smoothly the festival went from a logistics <br />perspective. The promotions committee did a great job organizing the activities. <br />Edwin asked if they used the trolley, - they could ferry people to the event. <br />Farmer's market photos had 25 people. <br />Kari will have a wrap up meeting on November first at 6 at Green Boutique. <br />Business owners have stated this was the most successful festival for the local <br />businesses. There were the same amount of food vendors, but people still used <br />the local restaurants. Really good feedback on having the kids events grouped <br />together. Strong advertising this year. The bake off was down this year. <br />Freeze off went really well. There was a line the entire time. Over a 100 <br />voters for the freeze off. The city worked really hard on making this event <br />special. Thank you to everyone for their hard work. <br />b. Grand Theater - the front has been abated. The scaffolding will stay <br />for a while. The bottom floor is abated up to the entry to the actual theater. <br />The second story inside is now being worked on. Phase one is close to <br />completion. The 1916 historic pieces will be saved as they move the look to the <br />1930's <br />c. Peristyle - some sod has been laid. They have to re -grade the <br />Peristyle due to a pooling of water in the middle of the Peristyle. Paul Denny <br />is working on this. Cheri will update later. <br />
