MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF <br />MAIN STREET ADVISORY BOARD <br />WEDNESDAY, MAY 21, 2003 3:00 PM <br />CITY OF PARIS, PUBLIC WORKS CONFERENCE ROOM <br />1. Present Board Members: Karen Wilkerson, Barbara Wilson, Patsy Davis, Linda <br />Suarez, Zach Saffle, David House <br />Absent: Bill Payne, Lisa Spann, Linda Ryan, Marry Ann Chalaire, Suzy Harper <br />2. Call meeting to order and review minutes: Mr. Terry Townsend called meeting to order <br />and asked for comments regarding previous meeting minutes. There were none. <br />3. Discussion regarding comprehensive map of free downtown parking and signage: Mr. <br />Townsend explained the Traffic Department is in process of installing the Historical <br />District signs purchased by Main Street. Discussion of potential free parking signs for <br />visitors and the creation of a comprehensive parking map followed with no action. <br />4. Discussion regarding permanent advertising on coke trailer: Mr. Townsend confirmed <br />rumors the local Coke distributor was going to give the City a vending trailer for future <br />event use. Mr. Townsend contacted Forest Signs and Sheri Bedford regarding <br />permanent print or murals on the trailer. Mr. Townsend explained that in either case <br />funding is not available for such promotions this year, and we would attempt to budget <br />for it in the future. <br />5. Discussed conceptual drawing of a potential pocket park from Main Street in Austin: <br />Mr. Townsend contacted Main Street, Austin, regarding the pocket park. Main Street, <br />Austin was unable to help with a conceptual drawing of the pocket park, other <br />alternatives were discussed. No action was taken. <br />6. Discussed choosing of Main Street Sub - Committee members as designed by the Texas <br />Main Street Program: The Main Street board unanimously agreed the sub - committees <br />would not be implemented at this time. <br />7. Discuss streetscape detectable warning pavers: Mr. Townsend explained the colors <br />used on the handicap ramps downtown will require some color comparisons on the <br />plaza. Mr. Townsend would arrange a meeting downtown with the design consultant. <br />8. Discuss information letter to downtown merchants: Mr. Townsend produced the <br />support letter suggested by the board in a previous meeting. <br />9. Report from Downtown Merchants Association Meeting: The merchants association <br />is planning a downtown sale and event on July 26. <br />
