M I N U T E S <br />PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD MEETING <br />Wednesday, October 19, 1988 <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular <br />session October 19, 1988 at 4 p.m. in the Library Gallery <br />with Chairman Bill Hagood presiding. Board, members present <br />were Rogene Patterson, Beth Shelton, William B. Neely, Eric <br />Tate and Secretary Frances Ellis. Jean Gibson, Virginia <br />Gibbs and Jackie Alsobrook were absent. Acting Director <br />Roslyn Sample and Dick Boots from the City of Paris also <br />attended. <br />The minutes of the September 21st meeting were approved <br />as circulated and the statistical report was presented. <br />Acting Director Roslyn Sample discussed the Literacy <br />Grant of $3,500 which was received on September 28 and noted <br />that an application for a $20,000 grant for videos was being <br />completed by the Library. <br />She said that board members would receive the NETLS <br />Newsletter every other month and gave a progress report on <br />the slide /tape program which is being prepared for public <br />relations use. She distributed an outline of the slides <br />which are being made by Sue Smith of the City. <br />Mrs. Sample reported that use of the Gallery by civic <br />and business groups has increased. Mr. Tate complimented the <br />Gallery for its usefulness in conducting Kimberly -Clark <br />workshops. Since the room will be in use on November 16, <br />Board members agreed to change the regular meeting date <br />to Tuesday, November 15, 1988. <br />The Board then discussed the need for closing the <br />Library for half -day workshops for the Library staff, and <br />recommended that pictures of former Librarians Mrs. Scott, <br />Miss Nina Shelton and Mrs. Margaret Baker be hung <br />in the Gallery at present. <br />
