MlNUTES <br />PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD MEETING <br />TUESDAY. NOVEMBER 15, 1988 <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in changed <br />sesszon. November 15, 1988 at 4 p.m. in the Lzbrary Ga1lery <br />with Chairman Bill Hagood presiding. Board memoers Rogene <br />Patterson, Beth Shelton, William B. Neely, Virginia Gibbs, <br />Jackie Alsbrook and Secretary Frances Ellis were present, <br />with Eric Tate and Jean Gibson aosent. Library Director <br />Beverly Ann Lewis and Claire Haslam, President of the Friends <br />of the Library also attended. <br />The minutes of the October 19 meeting were approved as <br />circulated. The circulation report was presented and Mrs. <br />Lewis discussed her plans for new methods of keeping the <br />statistical reports. <br />The Chairman welcomed Ms. Lewis and she presented copies <br />of her Vita and Goals for the Paris Public Library. (Copies <br />are attached to these minutes.) <br />Ms. Lewis announced that she wou1d conduct a library <br />staff professional development workshop on December 9, 1988 <br />from 2 to 6 p.m. and that the Library would be closed to the <br />public at that time. <br />The slide-tape program was discussed and Board members <br />agreed that people should be included in the pictures. <br />Copies of the Set B titles from the MacArthur Foundation <br />Library Video Classics Project were then distributed by Ms. <br />Lewzs. These videos valued at should oe received <br />around January lst and are from a grant application completed <br />by Roslyn Sample and Sue Smith. <br />/ Ms. Lewis said the Youth Librarian had been granted a <br />three month probation extension to January, and that Ms. <br />Lewis would objectively and professionally evaluate her <br />performance at that time. <br />After discussing the Rules of Conduct, she said changes <br />would be made in them, including the monitoring of children's <br />use of restrooms. <br />Ms. Lewis reported the flat display case has arrived and <br />will be utilized to display library-related materials. She <br />also announced the children's Christmas programs: a tree <br />decorating party with area Girl Scouts at 2 p.m., December <br />101 and a gift wrapping program and bell ringer concert on <br />December 17. <br />
