MINUTES PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD MEETING Wednesday, December 14, 1988 The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met for a Christmas social at 4 p.m. on December 14, 1988 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Hagood. Board members present were Nogene Patterson, Beth Shelton, William Neely, Virginia Gibbs, Jean Gibson, Eric Tate and Frances Ellis, Secretary; with Jackie Alsobrook absent. Library Director Beverly Ann Lewis; Pamela Sidnell, Youth Librarian; Roslyn Sample, Library Assistant; City Manager Mike Malone; Dick Boots, Community Facilities Director; Sue Smith of the Main Street Project; Claire Haslam, President of the Friends of the Library and Past President Sally Cecil also attended. The minutes of the November 15, 1988 meeting were approved as circulated. City Manager Malone complimented the Board, Staff and others on the work of the Library and extended greetings for the season. Chairman Hagood presented a plaque of appreciation from the Board to Mr. Boots for his leadership in promoting and supervising the creation of the enlarged and renovated Library and wished him well in his new assignments. Mrs. Ellis presented a statement of appreciation from the Board to Roslyn Sample for her loyalty to the Library and for serving as Interim Director on three separate occasions~ Ms. Lewis discussed the financial and statistical reports advising that the attendance account had been dis- continued because an accurate method of counting was not available. The total circulation to date was 18,042; a bonafide count of adult and juvenile reference assistance was 2,835. Eleven programs had been attended by 163 persons; Interlibrary Loans were 40 and going up. She reported that the November adult accessions totaled 315 new books and will give this report each month.
