<br />The Board of Directors for the Paris Public Library met for
<br />the first session of the fiscal year and the new regime, August 17,
<br />1976 in the Library at 10 A. M. with the Chairman, Robert Pierson,
<br />presiding. Present were Felix Gibson, Herschel McKinne, Mrs. Marvin
<br />Gibbs, Pat Bassano, Mrs. Glynn Lowe, David Denney, and Mrs. Printis
<br />Ellis, Secretary. Absent were Dee Cunningham, Dr. Don Black, F. D.
<br />Mallory, and Mrs. Frank McClure. Mrs. Baker and Mrs. Finch were
<br />also present.
<br />Minutes of the July 20 meeting were read and approved as
<br />circulated to members.
<br />The Wilbor Memorial Book Fund was discussed and attention
<br />called to increase: in amount given for July, due to ads in the
<br />papers.
<br />The City Budget account was studied and found to be incomplete,
<br />with some omissions. Gibson moved approval, motion seconded,
<br />discussed and passed.
<br />The Chairman complimented the Board and committees on the
<br />Annual Dinner Meeting held July 20 at the Gordon Country Club. He
<br />asked that a letter of thanks be written Thomas Steely for giving
<br />the account of the history of the Library, and Installing officers.
<br />Committees appointed include: Budget and Finance - F. D. Mallory,
<br />Chairman, McKinney and Ellis; Building and Equipment - Denney,
<br />Chairman, Mrs. McClure and McKinney. General Library Policies -
<br />Gibson, Chairman, Gibbs and Black; Personnel - Cunningham, Chairman,
<br />Mallory, Gibbs and Gibson; Publicity and Public Relations - Bassano,
<br />Chairman, Lowe and Ellis. A discussion of duties followed, in-
<br />cluding pursuit of getting the waterproofing of the building, check
<br />on air conditioner repair, change of hours for Library service,
<br />getting a. new brochure, promotion of memorials, and considering a
<br />new city ordinance permitting the City more responsibility in
<br />conduct of the Library, and smaller Library Board.
<br />Mrs. Baker reported on Northeast Texas System's providing
<br />several hundred books, and legislation on the LIBRARY DEVELOPMENT
<br />PROGRAM FUNDING, SEPT. 1, 1977 - Aug. 31, 1979. She requested the
<br />change from Page to regular staff for Vicki Pomroy, and the
<br />Personnel Committee was requested to study the situation. Instead
<br />of getting $2.30 an hour for 120 hours a month she would get�;��
<br />monthly salary such as Mrs. Gies receives, of 1325. monthly. iso�s mss_
<br />Mrs. Finch reported on the summer reading program in the
<br />Children's Library, saying 350 new books had been added with 4120
<br />circulated to 625 active readers. She told of the Paris Junior
<br />College Mental Health Workshop group's coming each Thursday afternoon,
<br />persons 20 to 39 years of age, to use the children's library.
<br />The Meeting adjourned at 11 a. m.
