NOVEMBER .23, 1976 <br />The Board of Directors for the Paris Public Library met at the <br />.-Library November 239 1976 with Robert Pierson, Chairman, presiding. <br />.Present were F. D. 1?allr.ry� Mrs. Glynn Lo�.�e 1•irs: M?rvin Gibbs, Dr. <br />Don black, Felix Gibson and ;�Irs. Printis Ellis, ►S,cratarV. Mrs. <br />Baker and I.Irs.. Finch, Librarians were Present. Harold Greene of the"." <br />city. a•tt -nded. <br />lIinutps of the Octob -r 19 meeting taken- by 1.1 r s. Loge, were read <br />and approved as circulated to members. <br />Mallory moved approval of the financial statements I',.s. Lowe <br />secodd6d,• and after discussion of the reason •for being k600 under • <br />the budget todate and comparison of monthly .Memorials, the statements <br />Ware approved, <br />The Chairman said a letter had been .written to ;,IrS Frank• N'cClure <br />saying her resignation had been accepted with regrets. He spoke of <br />no further notification from Hardy Moore, attorney for Christine <br />DeShong's •estate. <br />After a discussion of the need of •repair of the doiynspout .on the <br />south side which is causing water to flow into the 'basement of the <br />,buildigg� and with the absence of David., Denney,.. Building: and ^quipment <br />Chairman, r:allory said he would c•h 3ck with .al Dunning, and Mr. Greene <br />said he and others would inspect. the problem if the Librarians would. <br />..call when the next rains: occur. <br />Mrs. Ellis moved a Memorial Book be given from the Staff and <br />Board, and the family notif ied, when sn immediate member. of the family. <br />of the Staff or Board dies. Motion seconded, discussed and carried. • <br />No action was taken. on the Library brochure since Pat Bassano <br />was, <br />Herschel iicKinney M llory and Mrs, Ellis were asked to study <br />the City Ordinance relating to the Library and make recommes ndat ions <br />to the Board to present to the City Council at the DQcemb -r 21 meeting <br />^?r of the Library Board. The changes would relate to the City of Paris <br />assuming resonsibi.l_ity for the operations of the Library as a .derart- <br />ment -of the City as orplaincd' by Kerry. Sweatt at the October 19 mqe'-ing. <br />Mrs. Baker renorted an. increase of: 98 new members 268 new books <br />and a rionthly att:,ndance of 1804 for Octo'�er. :She a visit'ng' <br />.: Librerian from ?'isconsin, and said she •and 141 g .F nch .would att rnd a <br />December 2 sub- committee meeting at JhPrman.r <br />Mrs. Finch. said she had visited kindergartens first and second <br />':,.,.,grades and had received. many new members. as a result. ` She feels •a <br />need for more ]Black students to use the Library which has accumulated <br />literoture on the Black race.` <br />The meeting adIourned at .1 with piem}�ers touring the Librery. <br />- Mrs.' Printis Ellis, ,Secretary <br />Apnroyed <br />
