PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD <br />JANUARY 19, 1994 <br />it <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session Wednesday, January 19, 1994 at <br />4 PM in the Library Gallery with Chairman Beth Shelton presiding and these members present: <br />Jackie Alsobrook, Jean Gibson, Virginia Gibbs, Bill Neely, Rogene Patterson, and Joe Rex. <br />Beverly Lewis, Library Director, and Thomas Seay, NETLS Lay Representative, attended. <br />Absent were Frances Ellis, Bill Hagood, and Friends President Keitt Wood. <br />The December 15, 1993, Minutes were approved after correcting the word "pins" to "pens" in the <br />paragraph about the gifts to the volunteers. <br />The Budget Reports were distributed and Ms. Lewis noted expenditures were in line for <br />November and December. <br />The Statistical Report indicated a 7.1% increase in circulation this year compared to last. She <br />also noted the evening circulation continues to climb and the juvenile circulation is making a <br />comeback. <br />Ms. Lewis noted 700 books were added in December and those were about evenly split between <br />adult and juvenile titles. 31 were large print titles. <br />Mrs. Alsobrook reported the full county funding committee will meet next week to review a <br />proposed contract. She moved, and Joe Rex seconded, to have the Board give a book in honor <br />of Mary Clark who helped greatly with the contract. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Ms. Lewis reported on the automation project. Four requests for information were received and <br />are under review. NETLS Automation Consultant Roy Lewis met with the Director and staff <br />system coordinator Valle Stankus to discuss the material. A study of present equipment will be <br />made before the final list of requirements is sent out for bid responses. <br />The invitations for the volunteer recognition event to be held Monday, February 14 have been <br />distributed and the lunch was ordered from Grandys. <br />The Library will host a Texas State Library workshop about the Internet System Thursday, March <br />10. Ms. Lewis asked the Board to provide refreshments. Virginia Gibbs moved the Board do so, <br />Jean Gibson seconded, and the motion passed unanimously. <br />Ms. Lewis presented the Friends of the Library report. The spring literary luncheon will be <br />Monday, March 21 when RoseMary Rumbley will present "The Best of the Old Farmers <br />Almanac ". <br />
