PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD JANUARY 19, 1994 it The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session Wednesday, January 19, 1994 at 4 PM in the Library Gallery with Chairman Beth Shelton presiding and these members present: Jackie Alsobrook, Jean Gibson, Virginia Gibbs, Bill Neely, Rogene Patterson, and Joe Rex. Beverly Lewis, Library Director, and Thomas Seay, NETLS Lay Representative, attended. Absent were Frances Ellis, Bill Hagood, and Friends President Keitt Wood. The December 15, 1993, Minutes were approved after correcting the word "pins" to "pens" in the paragraph about the gifts to the volunteers. The Budget Reports were distributed and Ms. Lewis noted expenditures were in line for November and December. The Statistical Report indicated a 7.1% increase in circulation this year compared to last. She also noted the evening circulation continues to climb and the juvenile circulation is making a comeback. Ms. Lewis noted 700 books were added in December and those were about evenly split between adult and juvenile titles. 31 were large print titles. Mrs. Alsobrook reported the full county funding committee will meet next week to review a proposed contract. She moved, and Joe Rex seconded, to have the Board give a book in honor of Mary Clark who helped greatly with the contract. Motion passed unanimously. Ms. Lewis reported on the automation project. Four requests for information were received and are under review. NETLS Automation Consultant Roy Lewis met with the Director and staff system coordinator Valle Stankus to discuss the material. A study of present equipment will be made before the final list of requirements is sent out for bid responses. The invitations for the volunteer recognition event to be held Monday, February 14 have been distributed and the lunch was ordered from Grandys. The Library will host a Texas State Library workshop about the Internet System Thursday, March 10. Ms. Lewis asked the Board to provide refreshments. Virginia Gibbs moved the Board do so, Jean Gibson seconded, and the motion passed unanimously. Ms. Lewis presented the Friends of the Library report. The spring literary luncheon will be Monday, March 21 when RoseMary Rumbley will present "The Best of the Old Farmers Almanac ".
