PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD
JUNE 21, 1995
MINUTES
The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session Wednesday,
June 21, 1995, in the Gallery with Library Director Beverly Lewis presiding and
these members present: Jean Gibson, Bill Hagood, Rogene Patterson, Joe Rex and
Frances Ellis, Secretary. Upcoming new
member Toni Donnan also attended.
The May 17, 1995, Minutes were approved as circulated.
Ms. Lewis said the budget figures indicated expenditures were in line for the eighth
month of the fiscal year.
The statistical report showed a total circulation of 17,649 for the month of May, an
increase of 30% over the same month last year. Reference assistance was provided
for about the same number as the Year before - 2,559 times. There were 46
interlibrary loans, 234 items reserved, and 38 programs given with 722 attendees.
Dial -A -Story was inoperable for awhile, so only 760 calls were reported. There
were 47 memorials and gifts. 9,209 persons visited the library.
There were no new accessions recorded.
Ms. Lewis said 9,034 items were checked out to patrons living in Paris and 8,590 to
patrons living outside the city limits but in Lamar County.
The automated system is working well and the concluding training session will be
on the acquisitions module in August.
Ms. Lewis said the Sumner Reading Club is in full swing and Emily Kirkman,
Children's Librarian, advised that since June 3 there had been 527 children in the
Gallery and 228 preschoolers in the storytime area. The program is surpassing that
of 1994.
