PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD
MINUTES
November 28, 1990
The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in postponed
session Wednesday, November 28, 1990, at 4 PM in the
Gallery with Virginia Gibbs, Chairman, presiding, and
these members present: Jackie Alsobrook, Jean Gibson,
Rogene Patterson, and Beth Shelton. Beverly Lewis,
Library Director, attended. Absent were Frances Ellis,
Bill Neely, Bill Hagood, and Delores Hayter, President of
the Friends.
Minutes of the October 24, 1990, meeting were approved as
mailed.
Lewis reported that we finished the fiscal year under
budget. One month into the new year, we are right on
target. In the statistical report, October circulation is
58% more than last year. Evening circulation is par with
90 -100 items per evening open. We now have 1,000 videos
in the collection. At fiscal year's end, we had 50,782
books, 820 videos, 493 audio cassettes (we added 6400
titles). This month we added 530 books, 180 videos, and
weeded 262 items.
The Board discussed the Board vacancy and recommended that
we suggest Joe Rex to fill Eric Tate's slot on the Board.
There was no formal Friends report.
Under new business, the Board discussed volunteer
recognition. It was decided to have a buffet dinner
Thursday, January 10, 1991, at 6 PM in the Gallery for the
volunteers, staff, board members, and city officials. The
board will provide the food. New volunteers will receive
coffee mugs, and all volunteers will receive certificates
of appreciation.
