PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD <br />JULY 17, 1996 <br />MINUTES <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular <br />session Wednesday, July 17, 1996, in the Gallery at 4:10 PM <br />with Chairman Beth Shelton presiding and these members <br />present: Toni Donnan, Virginia Gibbs, Ralph Rodgers, Joe <br />Rex, Keitt Wood; and Frances Ellis, Secretary. Beverly <br />Lewis, Library Director was present; and Kathie Gibbs, <br />Friends President was present. Absent were Jackie Alsobrook <br />and Rogene Patterson. <br />The June 19, 1996 Minutes were approved as distributed. <br />The Budget Reports were distributed and Ms. Lewis noted <br />expenditures were in line for this time of the fiscal year. <br />The Statistical Report indicated the June circulation this <br />year was 11.6% higher than the same month last year with <br />25,187 items circulated. She said the overall year to date <br />circulation is 24% higher than last year because 189,973 <br />items have been checked out. <br />Ms. Lewis advised 476 new patrons cards were issued; many of <br />them to children who participated in the Summer Reading Club. <br />Upon motion by Keitt Wood, second by Toni Donnan, the Board <br />voted and unanimously elected the following officers: Beth <br />Shelton, Chair; Joe Rex, Vice Chair; and Frances Ellis, <br />Secretary. <br />It was also unanimously decided, upon motion by Toni Donnan, <br />second by Ralph Rodgers, the NETLS Lay Representative would <br />be Keitt Wood and Jackie Alsobrook would be the alternate. <br />Ms. Lewis said the Outreach Services Vehicle is here and <br />looks very impressive. It will have the Library and City <br />logos put on soon. <br />Reporting for Children's Librarian, Emily Kirkman, Ms. Lewis <br />said the Summer Reading Club activities were very popular and <br />to date in July 350 children had attended. In addition, 94 <br />adults had participated with their children. <br />Ms. Lewis advised there had been some delays in painting <br />"Billy the Book" but that it would be here when the company <br />was satisfied with it. <br />
